Front Yard Rennovation

BEFORE

Looks a little scary, doesn't it!?

*************************************************************************************

AFTER

After a bit of new paint and a new roof and new windows all throughout; it's not so scary anymore.

This didn't happen often (Ryan painting), so I had to take a picture ;) To give him credit, he did get the spots that I could not reach.

Living Room Rennovation

BEFORE

Yet another scary site (much worse in person)!

The carpet was yucky and the woodwork all stained dark; which made the entire house feel dark(not a pretty stain at all).

*************************************************************************************

We lightened it up by painting all the woodwork, scraped the popcorn ceiling, added new texture to the ceiling and pulled out the yucky carpet and old baseboards to install beautiful engineered (tobacco road) wood flooring and added new baseboards.

I love love this window! Definitely one of my favorite upgrades to the house!

We also added the wayne's coating throughout the drop down living area and updated the ceiling fan.

The wood floor looks much better in person, but this pic isn't too bad.

Our empty house right before we left for Colorado.

Kitchen Rennovation

BEFORE

Oh the kitchen. I hope that you have noticed the so un-lovely pink and grey swirled marble tile. Not quite sure what they were thinking back then but it was the 80's when it was built.

This is probably the most drastic change in the entire house! Notice the wall to the right and the ceiling?

AFTER

We had that wall
ripped out and the ceiling lifted. Oh and that bay window tore out and made into a door. Cabinets were added and cabinet doors replaced. The other changes are pretty noticeable. New tiled floor, appliances and granite countertops.

My favorite place in the house!

For those of you that don't know....Ryan a.k.a. - extreme handyman, made the extra cabinets and countertop. He enrolled in a cabinet making class at Clovis Community College to ute ilize most of the tools there. This cabinet and attached countertop was added the day before we left to move to Colorado.

So sad to not be able to enjoy this kitchen (with doors) little longer.

Dining Room Rennovation

BEFORE

Yucky yuck yuck!!! Is that what your thinking? Thats what I was thinking! Talk about motivation to get to working on this house.

Here is another big change.

***********************************************************************************

AFTER

We ripped out those spindles and squared off the opening. Ripped the yucky carpet out to install wood flooring, scraped the popcorn ceiling and painted.

There was also a door beside the back door, which is to the right in the picture.

Isn't it amazing what painting can do for a room?

Master Bedroom/Bathroom Rennovation

Blogging about our changes will continue later when I don't have a baby all over my keyboard :) More later, thanks!

Our House Before the Remodel

This is our house when we moved in.

We moved into this house in July of 09 and have been working on getting it updated since.

We learned many lessons while working on this enormous project.

1. While it's good to have a good time frame of a completion date, it always takes much longer than expected.

2. You can learn how to DIY from watching YouTube videos.

3. Frustration frustration frustration.

4. It's better to do the work before you move all of your stuff into the house.

5. If you get pregnant during this time...it's really going to take you a long time to complete those major projects.

I'm compiling pictures to add to the afters so stay tuned.
